Practical guide
What still works when pet tech loses internet?
Feeding schedules, camera history and drinking records have different dependencies. Compare the function, not an “offline” badge.

A feeder can lose its phone connection and still serve dinner. A camera may remain powered while you cannot reach it from work. “Works offline” is too broad to answer either question: separate the physical job from the connected features.
Start with the meal schedule
| Device | What can continue | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| One RFID | Scheduled feeding on emergency batteries | Wi-Fi is disabled on batteries; remote updates stop |
| YumShare Solo 2 | Stored feeding schedule without Wi-Fi | Remote camera/app functions need connectivity; backup power is a separate requirement |
| Arenti Feeder1 | Stored schedules without Wi-Fi | Video clips use cloud service; emergency power uses optional batteries |
| Arenti Feeder2 | Stored schedules without Wi-Fi | Battery-backup claims conflict; do not equate offline feeding with power-cut operation |
Set up the timetable while connected and check the exact model’s instructions. A stored schedule cannot feed an empty hopper, clear a jam or establish which pet ate the portion.
Camera power is not remote viewing
To check the cat from work, the camera needs a route from home to the app. Losing home internet breaks that remote view even if the camera has power. A local memory card may provide recording storage, but only the exact model’s documentation can establish whether it keeps recording during an outage.
Scout has no SD-card slot. Its free live viewing and paid history are service choices, not proof of offline recording. Arenti Pet 3T and Feeder2 support SD cards; their capacity specification alone is not an offline-recording guarantee.
Subscriptions are a different dependency
A working internet connection does not restore a paid feature after its entitlement expires. Decide whether you need live viewing, recorded events or summaries, then match that need to the plan. On Scout, each camera needs its own video-service subscription.
Some devices need a bridge
EverSweet Max uses a compatible PETKIT master device for remote access through Bluetooth interconnection. SureFeed Connect uses a Hub for connected features. A bridge or Hub is part of the setup, not another name for a home Wi-Fi password.
Make a practical backup plan
Keep the correct batteries where supported, write down the normal feeding settings and show your pet sitter how to check the bowl and device directly. Test a documented recovery procedure while you are present. The aim is to know what help is needed, rather than discover it from a missing phone notification.
